Lancaster-born comedian Jon Richardson has agreed a huge divorce payout to ex-wife Lucy Beaumont five months after their shock split.

After nine years of marriage, the comedians decided to call it quits in April this year, much to the shock of their fans. For six years, the former couple had entertained audiences with their mockumentary, Meet The Richardsons and recently appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox.

Now, it has emerged 41-year-old Jon has handed over £1.625 million to Lucy, the Mirror reports. Through the years, the pair amassed a fortune of £6 million together, but just two months after their separation, Jon handed over the cash to 40-year-old Lucy for the shares in the company which they are both listed as directors.

Jon also paid HMRC a further £8,125 in stamp duty for buying Lucys stake in the company, This Guy at Night Limited. However, the business is still worth £4 million according to Companies House documents.

Lucy and Jon are also still joint owners of a detached property in Yorkshire worth £1 million, complete with a swimming pool. They also joint-own a lavish flat in North London worth £1 million.

The former couple married in April 2015 and welcomed their daughter in 2016. However, their marriage came to an end in April, a shock to fans of the pair.

Announcing the news, they said in a statement at the time: "After 9 years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated. We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.

"As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being. We will be making no further comment."

Just weeks before their announcement, Lucy revealed the downside to working with her husband. She insisted they "make a good team", during a chat with OK! Magazine. "It's a great working environment because it feels like a big group of friends", the stand-up comedian said, although she highlighted one downside to working with her other half. "It's a shame that you can't see the crew off camera because most of them have worked on the show from the beginning. It's like a holiday for them."
