San Diego Comic-Con is tormenting us with exclusive footage shown in Hall H that hasn't been released online, and that includes Aquaman.

Attendees were treated to a look at James Wan's DCEU movie, which stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, the heir to Atlantis. Here's the breakdown (via Total Film).

  • Two men are fishing in a little boat on the ocean while listening to 'La Mer'. One man's line catches, but he finds that it's more than he can handle. The line unspools and their boat is dragged across the water before he lets go.

  • He looks down, to see a huge mechanical manta ray with glowing blue lights along its edge, just below the surface. A huge fin emerges from the water.

  • The camera drops below the ocean to reveal a huge armada of mechanical sharks and other sea creatures, as well as huge battleships (submarines, maybe?).

  • The scene changes and Aquaman can be seen looking at a dried out shipwreck that looks like it has been dredged from the ocean floor. He turns around and unsheathes his sword, speaking to an unseen second person. "You don't want to talk about this, do you?" he says. "Neither do I."

An audience member asked if the army belonged to Aquaman or his enemy Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), but was told that it was actually controlled by Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson), Curry's villainous half-brother.

The film will also star Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Temuera Morrison, Dolph Lundgren and Nicole Kidman.

First, though, Momoa will star in Justice League, which is out in the autumn – and luckily the Comic-Con trailer for that film actually was released online, and you can watch it here:

Aquaman will be released on December 21, 2018.
