Comic Relief is in the clear despite there being 338 complaints about this year's Red Nose Day broadcast.

Ofcom will not be investigating the complaints which largely centred around Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer's sketch with Susanna Reid as the pair brought back The Stotts from their stand-up series.

117 complaints were received by the regulator for "sexual material" over the fact that Vic was reportedly seen flashing a prosthetic penis from under his kilt.

"[The sketches] were inexplicit and consistent with the live, unpredictable format of this established charity programme," Ofcom explained to BBC News, adding that they "recognise that some of the comedy sketches were not to everyone's taste".

49 viewers also complained about the scheduling of a video showing a child dying of malaria.

"We found that images of a child suffering from malaria, while potentially distressing, were suitably limited and likely to have been within most viewers' expectations of a fundraising programme," Ofcom stated.

Other complaints received included 22 about Steve Coogan's language in a game of Innuendo Bingo and 10 about a sketch starring Mrs Brown.

And no, they weren't because it had Mrs Brown in it.

When the complaints were first reported last month, a BBC spokesperson declined to comment, but told us: "The Red Nose Day 2017 broadcast was a live studio environment enjoyed by a peak audience of 7.6 million which raised over £73m.

"This will go a huge way to help improve the lives of many people both here in the UK and in some of the world's poorest countries."
