SINGAPORE — On Sunday (7 August), they were battling each other for the table tennis women's singles gold. On Monday, Feng Tianwei and Zeng Jian teamed up to land Singapore's fourth gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The women's doubles duo comfortably defeated Australia's Jee Minhyung and Lay Jian Fang in straight games, 11-1, 11-8, 11-8 at the National Exhibition Centre to clinch the third table tennis gold for Singapore at the Games in Birmingham.

Feng had beaten Zeng for the gold medal in the women's singles competition on Sunday, pulling off a remarkable comeback from three games down to stun her younger compatriot, and breaking down in tears during the medal ceremony.

The duo had also helped the women's team clinch the team gold medal last Monday.

With the women's doubles gold, Feng also became the most be-medalled table tennis athlete at the Commonwealth Games, with 13 medals - nine golds, three silvers and four bronzes - won from 2010 to this edition.

In all, Team Singapore won four golds, four silvers and four bronzes at the Birmingham Games.
