Commuter Chaos as Tram and Truck Crash in Sydney

Rush hour commutes were interrupted in Sydney on Friday, September 13, when a truck and light rail tram crashed in Haymarket.

Around 60 passengers were evacuated from the tram, none of whom sustained major injuries, local media reported.

According to Live Traffic NSW, the crash occurred around 7am at the Pitt Street and Hay Street intersection, perturbing traffic until 11:18 am.

Pitt Street was closed in all directions at Haymarket as a result of the crash.

Light rail services were also interrupted between Convention and Central, NSW Police said.
