The UK is currently experiencing ‘the wettest August on records’ with forecasters predicting heavy rain and winds over the next few days.

Interspersed with sunny spells - and warm weather - it leaves the majority of us unsure whether we need to cart around our sunglasses, umbrella - or both.

But a brand new launch might mean you can cover all bases and opt for both options.

British brand Fulton, the Queen’s favourite umbrella manufacturer, has debuted The Aerolite - its lightest and slimmest umbrella to date.

It weighs just 86 grams, which is half the weight of the average smartphone. The average umbrella usually weighs in at around 289 grams.

It may be small, but it’s equally mighty: the brolly features a wind resistant frame (although whether it will stay upright in the 40+ mph winds forecast this weekend remains to be seen), aluminium rust-proof shaft and flexible carbon ribs for lightweight strength.

It also opens to the usual diameter of 83cm. But, when closed, can easily fit in your pocket or bag thanks to its compact design.

For only £22, if you live in Britain, it’s definitely worth the investment. You can shop the brolly in three colours: red, navy and black.
