Competitive Eater Gobbles Up $1,000 Prize Thanks to 'Baoger' Challenge

Auckland-based competitive eater and model Nela Zisser made short work of an eating challenge at local fast food outlet Happy Boy Eatery, with her efforts leading to a prize of $1,000 in vouchers for the restaurant.

To win the prize, Zisser had to chow down eight baogers — which are a combination of a burger and a Taiwanese steamed bun — in a time that beat the previous record of just under 27 minutes.

This proved no issue to Zisser, who posted footage of her record time of 11 minutes and 34 seconds to YouTube on October 2. “I’m super stoked about that time considering I cut the other guy’s time in half,” a modest and very full Zisser said before she accepted her prize.

For those ever in town, her recommendation among Happy Boy’s baoger selection is the sesame-cristed tofu patty. Credit: Nela Zisser via Storyful
