A New ‘Concorde’ Is Set To Fly From London To New York In Just ONE Hour

After the Concorde jets retired - many thought supersonic travel between the UK and the States was a quirk of history we would never again enjoy.

European plane manufacturer, Airbus, has different ideas as it has patented a new superjet that would fly between London and New York in only one minute, reports PatentYogi, a YouTube channel and patent services company.

This jet will not simply fly straight and direct to the destination - it will jet vertically to 35,000m in the atmosphere breaking the sound barrier on the way.

The jet is designed to reach four and a half times the speed of sound (Mach 4.5) which certainly beats Concorde’s top speed which was ‘only’ two times the speed of sound (Mach 2.01).

The jet’s US patent explain who Airbus expected the passenger to be: ‘In the case of civil applications, the market envisaged is principally that of business travel and VIP passengers, who require transcontinental return journeys within one day.’

There are two major catches to cutting your NY-Lon flight from seven hours to one. Firstly - this will cost passengers a seriously large wad of cash.

And secondly, it will only be able to accommodate 20 passengers.

Still, this would be the coolest and most extreme roller-coaster ride on the planet.
