Onlookers celebrated as a statue of a Confederate soldier came down in Charlottesville, Virginia, on September 12, near the site of the deadly 2017 “Unite the Right” rally.
Footage shows the statue, entitled “At Ready,” being removed from its pedestal, while onlookers cheer and sing.
Ned Galloway, the Chair of the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors, said of the removal: “There has been a robust, community-driven process to bring us to this moment.”
