Roseanne spin-off The Conners is due to return for its second season later this month in the United States, and we've now got some information about a returning character and a potential storyline.

As reported by TVLine, Katey Sagal is reprising her role of Dan's (John Goodman) school friend Louise. She made a guest appearance in one episode of season 1, when she tried to pursue Dan romantically.

In season 2, she is scheduled to appear in 10 of the ordered 19 episodes. Does that mean that a proper romance is on the cards?

"We're taking it slow. She wants a relationship. She wants romance. She is not giving up," showrunner Bruce Helford told the publication about Louise's return.

"But Dan is still having difficulty. He's struggling with whether he'd be betraying [Roseanne] if he does move toward someone else. And can he ever find that feeling with anybody else?"

Sagal isn't the only one returning for The Conners season 2 either, as The Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki has teased that he will be returning to his Roseanne role of David for "one or two more stories".

"Twenty some years later I'm still in awe of this freakass carnie group who adopted me early on and still learn so very much from them whenever in their presence. @thesaragilbert #lauriemetcalf," he added.

The Conners will begin its second season on Tuesday, September 24 at 8/7c on ABC in the United States. Katey Sagal will return in the season's third episode.
