Conservation Scientists Capture Drone Footage of Rare Cuvier's Beaked Whales

During a two-week research expedition off the coast of Mexico’s Guadalupe Island, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society caught never-before-seen drone footage of a mother and calf pair of Cuvier’s beaked whales.

According to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Cuvier’s beaked whales are considered the most extreme mammal divers in the world and can stay under water for up to two hours, which makes them a difficult animal to study since they only surface every so often.
