Conservative leadership race latest: Rishi Sunak tops latest poll after pledging to maximise Brexit

Rishi Sunak has topped a recent poll as the former Chancellor pledged to “make Brexit sing” on Saturday.

In a poll of 4,500 people conducted by JL Partners, Mr Sunak had the highest net “good PM” rating in 76 per cent of the seats won by the Tories in 2019.

In terms of 2019 Conservative voters, Mr Sunak has the highest net positive rating with +28. Among all voters, Mr Sunak has a net neutral rating which leads his rivals.

This comes as the former Chancellor, who voted to Leave in 2016, said there is more to be done in order to maximise the UK’s exit from the EU. Writing for The Sun, he said: “We got Brexit done, now I’ll make Brexit sing.”

A second debate will be hosted by ITV at 7pm on Sunday before the third televised debate on Tuesday.

On July 18, the next round of voting will take place before regional hustings take place around the country on July 22.
