A popular brewery has been forced to close its pub - after receiving 'constant complaints' from a neighbour. Weal Ales Brewery in Chesterton announced this evening that its taproom at Newpark Business Park had shut with 'immediate effect'.

The owners had been preparing to welcome football fans to watch England take on Denmark in the Euros before the shock announcement. However, they have pledged to open the London Road venue again soon.

In a statement on their Facebook page, Weal Ales - a member of the Campaign for Real Ales (CAMRA) - said: "Due to constant complaints by one neighbour, the tap room is closed with immediate effect. So sorry for those coming to enjoy the football with us. Keep watching as we will soon be back bigger and better."

Weal Ales Brewery was set up 10 years ago by Paul and Andrea Wealleans and was sold to new owners in 2023. News of the closure has shocked regulars.

One said: "Absolutely gutted!! The start of a new business in the village was a great idea. The numerous times I've been in, there's no noise from the front. No speakers or musi . Plus you closed at respectable times! When the gym was there you could hear music all the time.

"I hope it gets sorted and our village supports you when open again. A lot of money, time and effort has gone into this venture. The outcome was brilliant. Chesterton needs more dynamic businesses! Fingers crossed it's sorted soon."

Another added: "So sorry to hear this, we were looking forward to visiting this weekend." And a third said: "Fingers crossed for you that you reopen ASAP."
