Prepare to be gripped by new BBC One thriller The Control Room, a three-part series packed with twists and turns that's about to make its debut.

Set in a Glasgow ambulance call room, it kicks off an unexpected tale of past trauma and present danger that promises to be a must-see.

When is The Control Room on TV?

The three-part series is set to begin on Sunday night (17 July) at 9pm on BBC One.

You won't have long to wait between episode cliffhangers, as the thriller continues at the same time on Monday, 18 July and Tuesday, 19 July, too.

What is The Control Room about?

Ahead of the first episode airing, details are scant - which indicates there will be lots of twists, turns and revelations as the series progresses.

It follows call centre handler Gabe who works in an ambulance control room in Glasgow and whose personal life appears to be stuck in the past.

Gabe apparently suffered a trauma in his life aged 12 and is still struggling to move on, with his story having begun in 1999 and spanning the years up to the present day.

One day, he takes a distressing call where the person on the other end of the phone appears to admit to murdering someone - but as Gabe gets drawn into the situation, he realises his own life is in danger.

Sharon Rooney, who plays DI Anna Beck, said: "You’ll think you’ll know where it’s going but I can guarantee you’re wrong as the twists and turns are really exciting."

Daniel Portman, who plays Gabe's control room supervisor, added: "It is psychological and creeps up on you and builds. You’re never really sure what’s going on, who’s telling the truth and what people’s motivations are. There’s a sort of Hitchcock vibe to it."

Playing lead character Gabe is Iain De Caestecker, best known for his roles in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Fades.

Joanna Vanderham (Crime, One Of Us) plays Sam and Sharon Rooney (My Mad Fat Diary, Finding Alice) plays DI Anna Beck.

Gabe's control room colleagues Leigh and Anthony are played by Taj Atwal (Line Of Duty, In The Club) and Daniel Portman (Game of Thrones, Vigil).

The Control Room airs on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at 9pm on BBC One.
