Cornwall has long been a go-to destination for a British staycation - and for good reason. The beautiful beaches, greenery and stunning seaside towns coupled with the fresh salty air can do wonders for the soul.

For this week's Cool Stay of the Week, we're heading to The Old Fish Cellar in the harbour town of Mousehole. Located around three miles south of Penzance, this is the perfect hideaway with a rich history and an idyllic location for a romantic break.

The open-plan apartment was once a fish cellar (hence the name), but this was around 300 years ago so no need to worry about any lingering odours. Yet, its industrial past is the inspiration behind the interior decor.

While there, take time to sprawl out on the deep-seat leather sofa next to the wood-burner before cooking a homely meal in the expansive kitchen.

Afterwards, explore the lazy, winding streets of Mousehole that provide an idyllic setting for losing yourself for a few hours. The picturesque harbour is complimented by inviting pubs, restaurants and cafes which will satisfy any gastronome.

The Tate St Ives and Minack Theatre are both within a 30-minute drive so you can indulge in cultural as well as scenic delights.
