Cool Timelapse Shows Altocumulus Clouds Passing Over East Kentucky

A timelapse captured some pretty cool altocumulus clouds passing over east Kentucky on January 24. The footage, by Johnnie Nicholson, shows the cloudlets moving across the sky south of London, Kentucky.

Information on the NOAA’s SciJinks website says “altocumulus clouds have several patchy white or gray layers, and seem to be made up of many small rows of fluffy ripples. They are lower than cirrus clouds, but still quite high. They are made of liquid water, but they don’t often produce rain.” Credit: Johnnie Nicholson via Storyful
