Corey Taylor defends 'irresponsible' Dave Grohl after fathering baby outside his marriage
Corey Taylor has described Dave Grohl as "one of the nicest people on the planet" despite being "very irresponsible".
The Slipknot frontman has weighed in after the Foo Fighters rock star confirmed that he had fathered a child outside of his marriage, and Corey has defended his friend.
Addressing the situation on the 'Your Mom's House' podcast, he said: "It’s so messy, 100 percent messy. I know Dave Grohl. He is one of the nicest people on the planet."
The 50-year-old musician noted that "mistakes were made" and he understands fans will be "disappointed", but he pointed out that despite being put on a pedestal, celebrities are "not perfect".
He added: "You know, I will say this: Obviously, it's very irresponsible. I know there are a lot of disappointed fans out there because of the image that he has developed.
"But I have to remind people that we're not perfect. He was one of the last people to really have that image."
Corey acknowledged that his stance could be "very controversial", but he insisted having "issues" doesn't take away from him being a "nice person".
He argued: "This happening does not mean he's not a nice person because I happen to know him as a person.
"It means he's got f****** issues and he f***** up. He's not perfect. It is going to be very difficult for his family."
Dave, 55, vowed to "regain" the trust of his family after sharing the news via social media last month.
The 'Best Of You' singer - who has been married to Jordyn Blum since 2003 - wrote on Instagram at the time: "I've recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We're grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together."
The Foo Fighters star has three daughters - Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, ten - with Jordyn, and Dave previously admitted that they've had a huge influence on him and his songwriting.
Dave - who was married to Jennifer Youngblood between 1994 and 1997 - told TIME magazine in 2012: "It's changed everything that I do. When you have kids, you see life through different eyes."
