Coronation Street airs touching Paul and Billy scenes after tragic news

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has aired some touching scenes for Billy Mayhew and Paul Foreman after they received some tragic news.

For the past several months, Paul has been supported by Billy and his family after learning that he has the life-shortening condition known as Motor Neurone Disease.

The couple have tried to appreciate their time left, though their lovely wedding was marred by Billy being suspended from the church following complaints from some parishioners.

In Friday's (November 10) episode, Paul was feeling unsure of where he stood because he hadn't been intimate with Billy much of late.

He was also due for an appointment with his speech therapist, which led to a visit with the MND nurse when Bernie started worrying about her son's cough.

Paul ultimately received devastating news from this nurse, when it was revealed that he likely had been 6-12 months left to live. At the same time, Billy received news that he'd been reinstated at the church.

Back at home, Paul tried to look on the bright side by suggesting to Billy that they enjoy intimate time together while they still could.

When Paul asked his husband to draw a bath, Billy got the wrong end of the stick and came in with some shampoo.

Paul was disappointed to see his partner had confused his offer, though soon Billy ended up on the floor in pain after throwing his back out while trying to help Paul out of the tub.

The two saw the funny side of the situation, ultimately agreeing they'd need to call Todd and Ed for help. But first, Paul shared with his partner that he'd recently made a big decision about his own faith.

Billy was overcome with emotion as Paul explained that he'd recently been going to church with Dee-Dee Bailey to get baptised.

Todd and Ed soon arrived, and after a mishap where Summer caught the men trying to help Paul out of the tub, the couple shared a romantic night together on the sofa.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
