Coronation Street has aired a violent clash between siblings Leanne and Toyah Battersby.

Wednesday's (September 4) dramatic visit to Weatherfield saw Leanne confront her partner Nick Tilsley and Toyah after discovering they'd had an affair.

Viewers will remember that one of The Institute's henchmen had photographed Nick and Toyah sharing a kiss earlier this year in an attempt to blackmail them.

Leanne made her startling discovery after seeing how The Institute planned to use Amy Barlow's recorded therapy sessions against her.

Amy has been trying to get her investment money back from the cult after a horrifying 'malware session' in which she was taunted about being raped and having an abortion in her past.

When Rowan threatened to blackmail Amy with her confession to once kidnapping a man, Leanne wondered whether the Institute had recorded her therapy sessions too.

While alone, Leanne searched Rowan's computer, taking the time to delete everything in the file The Institute had on Amy.

She then searched for her own file, discovering that the cult had indeed recorded her sessions. However, Leanne was unprepared to find a separate file for Nick and Toyah, where she learned of their affair.

Feeling betrayed, Leanne charged into the Bistro to interrupt Nick and the Platts singing 'Happy Birthday' to Max. She announced to the whole family that "Nick's been sleeping" with Toyah.

Nick came clean with Leanne, admitting he'd fallen for Toyah as they tried to get her away from the cult. After Leanne stormed out, Nick confessed to Toyah that Leanne now knew everything.

"I told her the truth, that we love each other," he said.

Toyah was stunned, telling Nick: "You just made the blow 100 times worse."

At the same time, Rowan tried to explain himself to Leanne and redirect her anger towards Nick and Toyah. Rowan insisted he'd only kept her therapy sessions as "insurance", but Leanne threw him out anyway.

"I'm going to do my damnedest to make sure I get back what you've taken from Amy," Leanne vowed.

Leanne went round to No.11 to tell Amy she'd been right to turn against The Institute. Her offer of help was firmly rejected by a bitter Amy and her family.

Later, Leanne and Toyah had a showdown on the cobbles, as Toyah tried to explain herself. Leanne lashed out in anger by slapping Toyah across the face.

"I deserve that," Toyah conceded.

Toyah begged Leanne to let her explain herself, but her sister ordered her to stay away. Can Toyah and Nick make things right with Leanne?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
