Coronation Street is gearing up for a dramatic week with first-look pictures of a terrifying car crash connected to the battle for baby Alfie.
Fans of the ITV soap will know that the battle lines have been well and truly drawn between Imran (Charlie De Melo) and Abi (Sally Carman) as they both fight to get custody of baby son Alfie, the result of one night together.
Viewers can look forward to a week's worth of instalments from Weatherfield next week when in a change to the usual Corrie schedule, half-hour episodes will air every night from Monday to Friday.
The drama begins with a flash-forward to Imran leaving a chilling voicemail where he admits everything he has done in his custody battle.
The action moves back and forwards through events during the week and as emotions boil over the stakes are at their highest as Abi, Kevin, Imran and Toyah go head to head.
Most of the week will focus on a devastating car crash, where viewers will see Imran and his wife Toyah (Georgia Taylor) lying unconscious in the wreckage.
When the police start to ask questions about the cause of the crash, the blame seems to be heading towards Abi and Kevin, but are they responsible and will it affect who gets baby Alfie?
A recent trailer for the storyline showed Toyah cradling a crying Alfie and being comforted by Leanne and Nick, as a distraught Abi stood in front of a scene of chaos including police and estranged husband Kevin running towards her in a panic.
Solicitor Imran has paid an associate to lie for him about Abi being back on drugs, while Toyah has been struggling with the knowledge that husband Imran cheated on her and that his actions led to them losing the child they were supposed to adopt.
Abi's marriage has hit further trouble too, as Kevin has had his hopes of a reconciliation with her dashed by finding out who the real father of Alfie is.
Coronation Street recently switched to a new schedule that sees it air hour-long episodes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, but will change things up again with next week's half-hour nightly episodes that will leave space in the schedule for Britain's Got Talent live semi-finals.
Coronation Street will air Monday to Friday at 7.30pm on ITV next week.
