Coronation Street’s Carla to lie to the police in Joel mystery

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Carla Connor will lie to the police on Coronation Street as the mystery surrounding Joel Deering’s death continues.

The villain mysteriously disappeared last month, though his fate was confirmed a few weeks ago as his lifeless body was found floating in the canal.

Carla has become tangentially involved with the case following her romantic connection with DS Lisa Swain, with the pair growing close after Carla hired Lisa’s daughter, Betsy, at the factory.

Despite undoubtedly sharing a spark, the pair were conflicted on whether to pursue their romantic feelings for each other, with next week’s scenes beginning as Carla praises Lisa for how she manages her life.

After remarking how she juggles both her career and motherhood, Carla attempts to get closer to Lisa by laying a comforting hand, but she is left gutted after Lisa flinches at the gesture and hurriedly leaves the room.

Later in the week, Carla is asked by Ryan if she was ever questioned about her whereabouts on the night of Joel’s death, with Carla reiterating that she had nipped out of the house to turn off the lights at the factory.

She repeats this story to Bobby, but confides in him that she told the police that she was at home all evening with Ryan. Given her ever-changing alibi, is Carla hiding something? And will it jeopardise her relationship with Lisa?...

Elsewhere in the week, Betsy becomes suspicious of her own mother after she spots some bruises on her body, not believing her story that she obtained them during a combat class. Her curiosity reaches new levels as she hears from Daisy that Joel was involved in a fight the night he did.

Betsy’s suspicion grows as Lisa changes her story later in the week - could she have something to do with Joel’s death?...
