Coronation Street casts Doctors actor for Dee-Dee and Joel story

Coronation Street has added a familiar face to its cast, as the walls close in on Joel Deering.

Doctors' actor Alex Frost has announced he will be joining the soap in a guest role, which will be linked to the villain's storyline.

Joel's sinister behaviour was recently exposed after Dee-Dee Bailey and DS Swain discovered his connection to Lauren Bolton. Putting the pieces together, Dee-Dee was horrified to learn the truth about her fiancé.

In a post on X/Twitter, the Doctor Who star teased even more drama for Dee-Dee and Joel when his scenes air in early September.

"My first episode of my guest role in #CoronationStreet #Corrie begins in 2 weeks' time on Monday 2nd Sep at 8 pm on ITV," Frost wrote, adding: "I got to act alongside my good friend @NickHarrisActor and the brilliant Channique Sterling-Brown. Let's see what happens shall we #DeeDee #joel"

In a second post, Frost confirmed his Corrie appearances will air on September 2 and September 16, so urged fans to tune in.

Though his role will be linked to Joel and Dee-Dee, details surrounding Frost's character have not yet been revealed.

This week's episodes saw Dee-Dee uncover the extent of Joel's deceit. Lauren admitted Joel was responsible for her disappearance and was the father of her child. Determined not to let him get away with his crimes, Dee-Dee vowed to take down the villain by installing a tracker on his phone.

But with Joel continuing to lie to the police, will Dee-Dee and Lauren get justice?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
