Coronation Street casts Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis for affair storyline

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has cast former Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis for an affair storyline with Aadi Alahan.

Davis will begin filming this week, alongside The Archers' Ryan Early, as married couple Courtney and Darren Vance, the latter of whom will be partnering with Dev Alahan on business projects.

However, Courtney soon wants Dev's teenage son Aadi to become her toyboy lover, leading to a passionate affair that is sure to have dangerous consequences.

As Courtney comes up with secret ways that she can meet with Aadi, the teen finds himself entwined in an ever-complicated web of lies. The two new characters debut in July.

The role is a major soap comeback for Stephanie Davis, following her second departure from Hollyoaks as Sinead O'Connor in 2020 due to personal issues.

Reality TV fans will also remember Stephanie from her memorable stint on Celebrity Big Brother, as well as the BBC talent search competition Over the Rainbow.

"I am absolutely delighted to be joining the cast of Coronation Street, playing the part of Courtney Vance," she said. "Growing up I have always watched and loved the show, so to be part of the biggest TV soap in Britain, which is in the hearts and homes of so many people, is an honour."

Her on-screen husband Ryan Early is best known for playing Helen Archer's love interest Lee Bryce in the long-running BBC radio drama The Archers.

Ryan added: "I am so thrilled to be playing Darren Vance on Coronation Street and joining the most iconic Soap. I grew up watching the show with my grandmother so to walk on the cobbles is such an honour."

Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod has promised this new couple will be nothing but drama during their stint on the cobbles this summer.

"In Stephanie and Ryan, we have cast two fantastic actors as the catalyst for this fun, fiery storyline," Iain said. "Aadi will quickly find himself way out of his depth as he risks everything for Courtney. And while it is the best time he's ever had in his life, he stands to end up in a whole heap of trouble!”

Aadi has been unlucky in love over the last few years, as his engagement to ex-girlfriend Kelly Neelan abruptly ended with her leaving the cobbles before they could tie the knot.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
