Coronation Street confirms death in Joel Deering story

Coronation Street airs an unexpected ending for Joel Deering's storyline next week.
DS Swain announces Joel's death after unearthing some troubling evidence, although Dee-Dee Bailey fears that everything is not as it seems.
Viewers recently saw Joel get arrested after DS Swain's daughter Betsy provided the crucial evidence to bring him to justice for his crimes.
Joel has been released on bail for the time being, but his behaviour becomes increasingly erratic this week as Lauren Bolton's tracker app shows him spending considerable amounts of time in a field and industrial park.

The villain also pays a menacing visit to Roy Cropper's café, scaring the fan favourite when he turns up drunk and locks the door behind him.
Next week, Dee-Dee alerts DS Swain to a strange voice message that she has received from Joel. Swain points out that the message could be interpreted as a suicide note.
The police follow Joel's phone signal and pinpoint his last whereabouts. They find his car parked on a bridge, with a folded note left on the dashboard.
Before long, Swain announces that the police are looking for Joel's body, as he appears to have taken his own life.

Later in the week, Dee-Dee carries out some leftover errands from her ill-fated engagement to Joel.
She's intrigued when she phones the wedding venue and holiday company, who both confirm that Joel already recouped their deposits. Dee-Dee passes this information onto police detective Kit Green.
During her next visit to the police station, Dee-Dee crosses paths with Joel's grieving father.

Dee-Dee voices her growing belief that Joel isn't really dead and he went on the run to escape justice.
DS Swain is unimpressed and steps in, warning Dee-Dee to stop coming up with wild theories and accept that Joel is dead. Will Dee-Dee listen?
Coronation Street will air these scenes on Monday, September 30, Wednesday, October 2 and Friday, October 4.
