Yahoo News Coronation Street confirms more on Amy Barlow's big new storyline

Coronation Street has revealed more on Amy Barlow's big new storyline. The soap is set to explore the residual trauma and impact of Amy being sexually-assaulted by Aaron Sandford as she leans on friends Summer Spellman and Aadi Alahan for support.
As part of this storyline, Amy will get involved in the ongoing bullying storyline where Dylan Wilson is being picked on by Mason Radcliffe.
Amy will encourage Dylan to stand up for himself, then she takes her own advice by deciding against staying in for the night.

She heads off to the local nightclub where she intervenes when she spots a man trying to spike another woman's drink. Amy knocks the drink away and leads this young woman to the restroom.
Amy explains to this young woman that she was once raped and now wants to help other young women feel safe and informed. Once the young woman thanks her and leaves, Amy puts a new plan into place by approaching the man who tried to spike the drink earlier.
Amy pretends to flirt with this man, Dan, but it remains to be seen what exactly she has planned for him.
Prior to this storyline beginning, producer Iain McLeod spoke to Digital Spy about the way Amy remains "profoundly affected" by her past trauma.

"We wanted this chapter to be a final catharsis that doesn't allow Amy to move on exactly, because I don't know that you ever can. But it allows her to enter a different chapter of her reaction to what went on," the producer said.
"Amy will find herself driven to some fairly extreme lengths, in what she sees as an attempt to right some wrongs. She feels that she's acting in an entirely justified way. But it will fall to one of her friends to pull it back from the brink before she criminalises herself essentially, in a pursuit of what she believes to be a just outcome."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
