Coronation Street 'exit sealed' as Cassie Plummer star teases prison twist in Ken poisoning storyline
It looks as though there could be a Coronation Street exit on the horizon for Cassie Plummer (played by Claire Sweeney).
Over the past few months, ITV viewers have seen her caring for Ken Barlow (Bill Roache) after he fell down the stairs and fractured his pelvis.
However, this week things took a turn when he decided to let Cassie go, although she appeared to be ok with the decision at the time, it was clearly not the case.
As Ken agreed to help her write a CV at his home, Cassie was seen making him a hot drink before crushing a tablet and spiking him before also giving him his usual medication.
On Wednesday night, the long-running character was rushed to the hospital, and he later asked Cassie if she wanted her job back.

Although her scheming ways may be catching up with her, as actress Claire Sweeney teased, there could be trouble for her character on the cobbles.
Appearing on Friday’s Good Morning Britain, she told the presenters Kate Garraway and Paul Brand she was doing an interview with Sue Crawford and was trying to justify Cassie’s actions.
However, the actress was quickly told spiking someone is a criminal offence and she could end up going to prison.
Kate asked: “Oh god, hang on, does that mean you might be going to jail?”
Looking coy, the actress didn’t want to give anything away as she replied: “Who knows…”
The GMB star called Claire a tease, but the actress quickly informed them both that she doesn’t want to be written out of the soap and called herself a huge fan of the show.
However, Claire confessed that this storyline is far from over, as she commented: "What's funny about Cass is that people are just starting to like her.
"She had all the flirtations with Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) and suddenly... This is what I said to Kate, our producer, and she said, 'She can't help herself'.
"Everything is about survival with Cassie, and this is about surviving and keeping her job, and she also really likes Steve as well. So, it's not the end it's going to go on for a while."
While speaking to the presenters, she touched on her on-screen son Alan Halsall, who is currently starring in the I'm A Celeb line-up.
She said: "Isn't he wonderful? I know Maureen Lipman came on here and she said he'll start off quietly just watch and observe and then he'll come forward.
"That's what he'll do, he's brilliant Alan, he's such a funny guy. He's smart, he's sensitive, he's a really brilliant personality."
As the GMB host highlighted how quiet Alan is being at the moment, Claire replied: "In the first episode he wasn't quiet because he had the big trial with Tulisa and he really shone in that didn't he? He's sitting back at the moment. I think he will, he needs more airtime."
Good Morning Britain aires weekdays on ITV from 6am.
