Coronation Street fans 'convinced' three characters are set to murder Joel Deering in new 'whodunit'

After Joel Deering's violent behaviour against Lauren Bolton went unnoticed for months, his abusive streak was revealed to his now ex-partner Dee-Dee, who is now seeking justice. However, some Coronation Street viewers think he is about to be murdered in a new 'whodunnit' plot.

Villainous lawyer Joel (played by Calum Lill) was recently reported to the police over his brutal attack against Lauren (Cait Fitton), with Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) finally learning the truth in an emotional flashback scene.

Dee-Dee has since joined forces with DS Lisa Swain (played by Vicky Myers) to search for new evidence of Joel's violent history including revisiting his old place of work. Meanwhile, Joel threatened Lauren at the hospital, revealing that he's spoken to a solicitor and intends to apply for custody of Frankie.

"You're only doing this to punish Lauren, you've got no interest in Frankie," said Dee-Dee, with Joel replying: "You're wrong, I love my son and I want to make sure he's safe."

Joel is claiming Lauren purposely took tablets to try and abort their baby son, but it was Joel who took the evil step in hopes she would lose the baby. But thankfully, Frankie survived and appears to be getting stronger.

Despite Lauren urging her to stop interfering, Dee-Dee reported Joel's threat to Swain, determined to find more of his former victims.

Lauren is frightened to the core as Joel's horrifying streak continues, but it appears Dee-Dee and DS Swain are not scared of standing up to the bully.

As the three women battle against Joel, some Corrie fans have taken to social media to predict one of the trio will kill Joel in a murder mystery plot.

Taking to Reddit, one Corrie viewer wrote: "I've got a feeling that there is going to be a whodunit storyline and Joel will be killed off. I'm not sure why but with everyone threatening him and hinting that he will get what's coming to him, I feel like they are planning up for that storyline. Maybe I'm wrong and I hope I am but that's my gut feeling."

A second explained: "I've had a theory for a while now that the past few months the show has been building up to a big storyline where 3 female characters (Dee Dee, Abby and Leanne) are going to murder Joel, Stefan and Rowan.

"And then DS Swain will have an experience of sorts that will change her views on justice and right and wrong which will lead her to helping these 3 women covering up the murders they've committed."

Comparing the theory to EastEnders, another added: "Potentially as it would be McLeod's answer to the Six."

Over on X, one Corrie viewer demanded: "On #Corrie, Dee Dee & DS Swain have to either get dirt on Joel, record Joel's confession, take him out or catch him in the act." (sic)

"Random theory but Joel is gunna get killed with a whodunnit attached and the three women who hate him most will be in the frame #corrie," echoed another. (sic)
