Coronation Street fans 'know' exact date Paul dies
Coronation Street fans think they have worked out when Paul Foreman will die in the long-running ITV soap. Paul, played by Peter Ash, was diagnosed with the Motor Neurone Disease last year, with his health continuing to decline.
No longer able to walk or speak, Paul now relies on an Eyegaze, which allows him to communicate by essentially scrolling on the device with his eyes, as well as a specialised wheelchair and a stairlift. Recently, Paul told his husband Billy Mayhew he wanted to end his life before things got any worse.
Emotional scenes played out as part of a special Coronation Street episode, which showed MND from the sufferer's point of view. The programme was dedicated to former England rugby league international Rob Burrow, who died on June 2, aged 41, after a lengthy battle with MND.
Paul's plans were interrupted, and he later decided his life would end naturally. Billy has been told that Paul wants to hold on until after his imminent birthday, having had second thoughts about his initial way out.
Paul and his twin sister Gemma were born on August 24, with this date leading some fans to predict when Paul will leave Corrie for good. In a Facebook group created by and for fans of the soap, one user said: "How sad would it be if he dies on both their birthdays" [sic], while on X, formerly Twitter, another Coronation Street fan, named Broden said: "Paul and Gemma’s birthday is on the 24th of this month… imagine if that’s when Paul dies. #Corrie"
Responding to a post on Corrie's official Instagram account, Kelly said: "I sadly think his last day is almost here, the birthday August 24".
