Coronation Street fans spot giveaway clue Lauren is 'hiding something' as 'more secrets to come'

Coronation Street seems to have hinted that Lauren Bolton is harbouring another massive secret, following a revealing 'clue' on the ITV soap. The young character (played by Cait Fitton) recently made her return to the cobbles after being missing for several months. It was disclosed that twisted solicitor Joel Deering (portrayed by Calum Lill) was responsible for her disappearance.

This week, Joel's horrific crimes were finally brought to light. Joel insinuated himself into Lauren's life last year, initially assisting her with bills before manipulating her into a sexual relationship. Following a heated argument in which Lauren mentioned his fiancee Dee-Dee Bailey's (Channique Sterling-Brown) name, he brutally attacked her and left her for dead.

Meanwhile, corrupt police officer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) helped Joel stay under the radar by planting Lauren's DNA in Nathan Curtis' (Christopher Harper) van, framing him for Lauren's disappearance, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Long-time viewers will remember Nathan was the man who groomed and abused Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) a few years ago - with Bethany convinced that he was also behind Lauren's disappearance. However, upon her return, Lauren revealed to Joel that she was carrying his child.

In a tangled web of deceit, Joel coerced Lauren into lying and claiming it was Nathan who had abused her, not him. Joel then attempted to murder her in a desperate bid to kill the baby by drugging her. His vile plan failed, however, she went into premature labour and the baby survived.

And yet, despite Joel being confident he'd escaped the consequences, truth has a way of surfacing, and this week it did just that. But in an unexpected turn, Joel pre-empted events by approaching the police himself, fabricating a story that Lauren had resorted to taking illegal abortion pills to terminate her pregnancy.

However, Lauren, allied with Dee-Dee, is now plotting Joel's downfall, while spectators have sniffed out that Lauren could be guarding a secret following a suggestive hint. In the Wednesday episode (August 21), Bethany cornered Lauren at the hospital, irate at her revised testimony that pointed to Joel as the suspect of her vanishing act rather than Nathan.

Lauren maintained her unfamiliarity with Nathan, but as Bethany declared: "I think you know a lot more than you're letting on," Lauren averted her gaze guiltily. Now, armed with her dubious glance, fans are convinced that Lauren's evasiveness signals deeper mysteries yet to unfold.

On a Coronation Street Facebook group, one fan speculated: "Still not fully trusting Lauren she's hiding something. I'm sure of it." Another concurred: "I actually thought exactly the same thing tonight she looked very shifty. But she's told so many lies it's hard to believe anything she says really."

Another member added their voice: "Going by the look on her face as Bethany, or was it Daniel, walked away, I think you are so right there, seems there's more shocking secrets to come out still."

Additional comments included one from a fan stating: "Def still something to come," followed by another who observed: "Yes and shifty when asked about Nathan." (sic)
