Coronation Street hints at a change for TV legend's house

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has hinted that one legendary house in Weatherfield could get a new owner.

Wednesday's (October 16) episode revealed that Carla Connor was considering bidding on No.8 — aka Gail Platt's home — in what would be a huge shakeup for the cobbles.

Gail recently decided to put her home on the market to pay for bringing her granddaughter Bethany Platt back home from Turkey following a botched cosmetic procedure.

The latest instalment revisited the Platts' financial problems as Sarah investigated sneaky behaviour from Gail's new boyfriend Jesse Chadwick.

Sarah learned from Adam Barlow that Jesse may have overheard him discussing the hidden money that Damon Hay had left in a secret lock-up for the family.

Following this shocking revelation, Sarah enlisted her brother David to prove that Jesse's declaration of love was a ruse so he could steal the money.

Elsewhere in the episode, David was upset to find an estate agent placing a "For Sale" sign in front of No.8. It wasn't long before potential buyers turned up, including Carla and Ryan!

David has been desperate to stop Gail from selling No.8 since it would mean he'd have to find somewhere else to live with Shona and Max.

In a comedic scene, David told Carla that the house was plagued with problems — warning about a boiler being "on its last legs" and the plumbing being "a bit off and all".

Carla immediately saw through David's act, telling him: "It don't matter. I'll probably just rip the whole place out. I'm thinking of buying it!"

Before she left, David asked Carla why she wanted to buy his "childhood home" out from under him. Carla reminded David that Gail was the one who put the house up for sale — plus, she wasn't keen on living with Ryan and Bobby much longer.

"The bottom line is, David, if I don't buy this place, someone else will," she pointed out.

Carla was seriously considering purchasing the historic property, leaving David frustrated about the prospect of losing his family's home.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
