Carla believes that her psychosis is returning after experiencing some concerning symptoms, but she's unaware that Stephen is to blame. Stephen has been secretly spiking Carla's drinks with LSD in recent weeks.

Next week, Stephen oversees the final stages of the American deal that Underworld has landed for the Nippersnapper range.

Just when Stephen is about to sign the contract, Rufus appears and orders him to tear it up.

Rufus announces that he wants the sole rights to Nippersnapper and expects Stephen to play ball by sacrificing the American deal.

As Rufus has been supplying the LSD that Stephen is using to drug Carla, he threatens to tell everyone the truth unless Stephen cooperates.

Stephen is seething over Rufus' threats, so he picks up a hole punch from the Underworld office and approaches him menacingly.

Coronation Street's producer Iain MacLeod recently promised that Stephen will ultimately be caught out, although his storyline is expected to run for many more months.

MacLeod told ITV1's Loose Women: "Of course he is [going to be caught]. It's a soap, bad guys always get their comeuppance in the end, don't they?

"So yes, 100%. There's a lot of fun to be had between now and then, I will say."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
