Coronation Street icon's return 'sealed' after devastating house fire
Coronation Street fans think an iconic character is set to return after a fire broke out at the Platt's home. The blaze kicked off when a mystery person posted a rag through the letterbox and set it alight.
The fire quickly broke out before an explosion raged through the property. The fire has left Weatherfield residents fighting for their lives while the police begin to question possible suspects after confirming it was an arson attack.
David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) was the main suspect after he scrambled to raise enough cash to pay back a gangster after stealing his money. He tried to re-mortgage his family home, and when that failed, it appeared that David would need to sell the iconic Platt home.
It was also revealed David previously searched for ways to set a property on fire without making it look suspicious to claim on insurance.

Before the blaze, Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Duttine) was in the Platt's home where she angrily confronted Toyah Habeeb (Georgia Taylor) for calling social services on her. After suffering another hallucination, Abi knocked Toyah to the floor, leaving her unconscious in the house.
Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) was also seen at the incident, starring into the house as the fire raged on while Logan Radcliffe (Harry Lowbridge) casually walked past the commotion.
As Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) tries to identify who caused the fire, Max Turner (Paddy Beaver) and Toyah have been left fighting for their lives in the hospital.
Corrie fans are now speculating Gail Platt (Helen Worth) is going to return to the cobbles following her exit at Christmas where she moved to France.
The now burnt down house as No. 8 Coronation Street has been the home to the Platt's since 1991, and viewers are wondering why Gail hasn't yet returned to see her family.
Taking to X, one viewer asked: "Will Gail be rushing back now? #Corrie", while a second added: "#Corrie has anyone told Gail???."
A third chimed in: "Gail leaves house burns down #corrie", while another asks: "Where’s Gail??? Doesn’t take that long to get back from France! #Corrie."
"So here's where Gail's exit storyline just doesn't work. She'd be back from France in a heartbeat to support her David #Corrie", suggested one fan while another agreed: "Gail would be straight back home #corrie."
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV and ITVX
