Coronation Street Joel star admits taking prop that bosses 'spent loads on' ahead of exit
Coronation Street’s Joel Deering star Calum Lill has fessed up to taking a rather spenny prop ahead of his soap exit.
The actor shot to fame playing solicitor Joel - making his debut in 2023. Despite rocking up as a good guy, and striking up a romance with Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) his true colours quickly came to light.
In a shock twist, it was revealed that he had a history of grooming and abusing young girls, including Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) - who he attempted to kill before she went on the run for months.
Joel’s crimes were eventually revealed - and at the end of September, his body was found in a local river. However, it was later determined by a pathologist that Joel had died before going into the water, sparking an epic ‘whodunnit’.

A range of residents have become suspects over the past few weeks, including Dee-Dee and even Carla Connor (Alison King). However, during Friday’s episode (November 15) Joel’s killer was revealed as Lauren.
And it seems ahead of his soap exit, actor Calum was keen to take a few things to remember his time on the long-running soap. So much so, that he admitted he is now “kitted out”.
Speaking to Reach and other press, Calum was asked if he had taken anything of Joel’s with him. He said: “Yeah I have. I’ve got a lot of his costume. They spent loads! His smart causal stuff is nicer than any of my smart stuff, so I’m absolutely kitted out now!” Calum quipped.
But that’s not all. He explained: “So I’ve got that and I’ve got the murder weapon.” Calum went on: “The one I’ve got is like a brick that would have been part of the bridge. So I’ve got the soft foam version.”
As for how he felt when he learned that it was Lauren who killed Joel, Calum said it is “what he [Joel] deserves.” He shared: “When I found out it was Lauren I thought soap justice is definitely a thing, and I think that’s the best justice he could have got.
“He attacked her viscously and nearly killed her, so for it to be able to come full circle, and for him to get his comeuppance from the person he attacked when she was vulnerable and defenceless I think, is what he deserves.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
