Coronation Street's Helen Worth, famed for her role as Gail Platt, has been tipped to participate in a significant BBC show following her departure from the iconic soap. The 73-year-old actress revealed her unexpected exit from Coronation Street after boasting an impressive stance of five decades in the soap.

The series' producers have assured fans that her departure will not be without notice as they teased Helen's "emotional" send-off later this year along with a "major storyline". Despite Helen making an exit from the long-running series, bookies believe viewers will see more of the actress later this year, reports the Mirror.

Potential odds have already started circulating regarding Helens next trajectory. BetIdeas bookmakers are wagering at 8/1 for Helen to make a guest appearance on this year's Strictly Come Dancing, and at 10/1 odds hinting at Helen jetting off to Australia for the ITV show I'm A Celebrity... Celebrity Big Brother is another potential avenue for Helen. Speaking on her decision to step down, Helen confirmed: "This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world.

"I made the decision at the start of the year and spoke to the producers who were very kind and understanding. I have been truly blessed to have been given the most incredible scripts week in week out, and to have worked with fantastic actors, directors and a brilliant crew. The past 50 years have flown by and I don't think the fact that I am leaving has quite sunk in yet."

Gail Platt, a stalwart of Weatherfield and a character who has been central to many major storylines, is mother to three children who are fixtures on the Cobbles: Nick Tilsley, Sarah Barlow, and David Platt. The Mirror recently reported that Strictly Come Dancing producers are struggling to recruit female stars for the upcoming series due to the controversy surrounding professional dancer Giovanni Pernice.

Speculation is rife about Helen Worth's next move post-Coronation Street, with bookmakers also weighing in on how Gail might depart from the show. While Coronation Street writers have kept their plans under wraps, betting odds suggest Gail could meet a grim fate, with Joel Deering pegged as the likely culprit at 1/2 odds according to BettingSites.

Other possibilities include Gail tying the knot once more, with odds at 4/1 for her seventh marriage, and a 5/1 chance that she might make a surprise return to the soap shortly after her departure. There's even a 7/1 bet that Helen Worth will come back to the street within a year.

BettingSites' spokesperson Andy Newton posed the question: "So, if Platt is to be killed off - who will be the murderer?"

"Our experts are pricing up proven killer Joel Deering, who has already bumped-off Lauren Bolton, as the big favourite at just 1/2 to be the one to send Gail into the Corrie wilderness. However, with 50 years on the show and six unsuccessful marriages, there are many other candidates that might want Gail dead - including son David, Nathan Curtis, who has a history tormenting her family - or don't rule out 'back-from-the dead' (it's been done before) Richard Hillman returning for revenge at 50/1 - now what a Corrie climax that would be."
