Coronation Street Peter Ash's next role in Disney classic after heartbreaking storyline
Coronation Street star Peter Ash has landed himself a new acting role. The Paul Foreman actor bid farewell to the cobbles earlier this month as his character went through a hard-hitting storyline based on Motor Neurone Disease.
The 39-year-old, from Greater Manchester, bowed out of the ITV soap after six years and he went out on a high as he picked up an award at the National Television Awards 2024. The actor went home from the ceremony in London with a trophy from the Serial Drama Performance category. Now, Peter is looking ahead to his new role which will see him star as Abanzar in Aladdin this festival season at the Queen Elizabeth in Oldham, as reported by Manchester Evening News.

Since leaving the show, the actor has been seen enjoying the afternoon at the theatre alongside former Corrie co-stars Jane Hazlegrove, who played on-screen mum Bernie Winter, and Dee-Dee Bailey actress Channique Sterling-Brown. It was a trip down memory lane for Peter as he was actually on the first national tour of War Horse playing Billy back in 2015.
Speaking at the performance, Peter, said: “I was part of the original UK tour 10 years ago and yeah it's just incredible, this is my first time seeing it from the audience point of view and it's just, it's so special. It's really nice to come back and see it again. It's still just as amazing as I remember it when I did it - emotional, inspiring and wonderful.”
Away from the tumult of Weatherfield, Pete, who portrayed Paul from 2018, has been keeping fans updated on his relationship with Amy Shawcross and his son Ayden.
The dad often posts lovely pictures with Amy on social media, including one celebrating her completion of nursing studies. The couple previously celebrated four years together, with Peter sharing a heartfelt anniversary post on Instagram at the time saying: "4 years ago we had our first date in this same pub. Love you.”
The couple's social media feeds also feature snapshots of their joyful times, from getaways to Belfast and York, to light-hearted fun like their own version of the classic Spider-Man kiss, with Peter upside down for a smooch from Amy, reports the Daily Star.
Coronation Street broadcasts on ITV at 8pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
