Coronation Street 'reveals' new Rovers Return barmaid - and she’s a fan-favourite
Coronation Street fans have ‘worked out’ the new barmaid at the Rovers Return.
The iconic landmark is one of the most well-known pubs in all of soapland and it holds a wealth of history throughout the soap's 65-year reign on screens.
Over the years, viewers have seen several faces stand behind the iconic bar, ruling the roost and ringing the bell, from soap legends like Bet Lynch (Julie Goodyear) and Liz McDonald (Beverly Callard) to newbies like Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) and Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan).
Currently, the pub is owned by Carla Connor (Alison King), after landlady Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) and Daisy ended up stealing stolen cash from Carla’s factory to buy the pub, amid their money trouble.

When Carla found out, she was furious. However, she agreed not to turn in Daisy and Jenny, and claimed ownership of the Rovers since it had been bought with her money.
However, recently, amid Carla’s need for a kidney transplant, she has demanded her money back from Daisy and Jenny. If they can’t get the cash themselves, then Carla insisted they sell the pub - or she would call the cops.
Since then, Jenny has been trying to pump some extra cash into the pub in a bid to raise money to give to Carla. And during Wednesday’s episode (January 22), she threw a pub quiz - which in typical soap fashion, ended in drama.
As a result, Jenny recruited a familiar face to help out behind the bar - and fans have since demanded bosses to make her the new barmaid of the iconic Weatherfield pub.
Cobbles legend Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) helped run the place - and fans were more than happy to see her pulling pints. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one person penned: “What did we all think of Mary helping out behind the bar in the Rovers?”
A second person replied: “She should be the next barmaid.” Echoing their thoughts, a third penned: “Wish it were permanent, love Mary.” Another fan declared: “I'd love to see Mary's character a bit more prominent. She looked well behind the bar.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
