Bethany Platt is set to say an emotional goodbye to Coronation Street next week as she leaves the cobbles for the bright lights of London.

But the question on everybody’s lips is, will she be going alone, or will Daniel Osbourne and baby Bertie be leaving with her?

While we can’t tell you exactly what happens, we can tell you to have some tissues to hand as Daniel finally breaks down over wife Sinead’s tragic death, as he gives his best man speech at Adam and Sarah’s wedding.

Bethany’s ex-boyfriend, Craig Tinker – who also happens to be Sinead’s cousin – warns her that Daniel is still all over the place and is basically just a car crash waiting to happen. But, as Craig tells her she’ll end up getting hurt, Bethany doesn’t want to listen.

When she sees Daniel lose it during his speech, she listens on unnerved and fears that mum Sarah might be right about Daniel still being in love with Sinead.

Later a determined Daniel tries to convince Bethany, everyone and himself that he’s serious about her, by proposing. But what will she say?

As the week draws to a close, Bethany decides her path and realises she needs to leave Weatherfield behind her.

But will she be going alone? Or will Daniel and Bertie also be saying goodbye to the cobbles?

Lucy Fallon, who’s played Bethany for the past five years, announced last May that she’d be leaving the ITV soap once her current contract expired.

It was then confirmed in September that her final scenes would air in March 2020.

Lucy took to Twitter to share the news with her fans, writing: “After the most incredible 4 years, I have made the extremely difficult decision to leave Coronation Street at the end of my contract in 2020. It’s hard to put into words how much this show means to me.

“I’ve made lifelong friends with some of the most talented and hardworking people in the industry, I’ve had some terrific and immensely important storylines and I’ve laughed with the best people everyday.

“I’m so thankful to Iain and everyone at Coronation Street, I owe everything to them and I will miss them greatly.”

We’ll miss you, Bethany.

Coronation Street continues Wednesday at 7.30pm on ITV.
