Joseph’s emotional exit
Chesney admits to Gemma that he ought to accept the fact that Linda can offer Joseph a far better life in Portugal. But when he tells his son that he’s prepared to let him move overseas with his granny, Joseph is privately gutted.
Linda then calls at No 5 with shock news: due to an emergency, she’s flying back to Portugal that night. With Joseph agreeing to go with her, it’s left to Chesney, Gemma, Bernie, Fiz, Hope and Ruby to wave the two of them off as they depart in a taxi.

But Hope will belatedly reveal what Joseph recently told her: that he didn’t really want to leave and was only doing so because Ches and Gemma couldn’t afford to keep him. Chesney realises he’s made a massive mistake – but as he and Gemma race to the airport, will their efforts be enough to halt Joseph’s exit?
Adam is in trouble with the police
Adam’s stress levels skyrocket as Lydia goes to extremes to get her revenge. First, she plants a phone in Adam’s drawer that Sarah soon discovers is the one on which he’s been “messaging” Lydia about his secret affair. Cue Sarah dumping Adam’s stuff out on the pavement.
Then, after Adam calls at Lydia’s to talk things through, she plays the victim and makes out in front of passers-by that she’s scared of him. Eventually, she lets him in, but Adam is shocked to find that she’s trashed her house in another elaborate attempt to set him up.
As Adam takes out his phone to call the police, she delivers a further surprise: they’re already here. So is Adam now in more trouble?
Abi turns to drugs following marriage break-up
Debbie has bad news for Abi: she’s spoken to Kevin and he wants her gone before he returns home. Already feeling guilty about her duplicity, Abi then gets a further shock when Toyah announces that she’s going to get married to Imran and shows off her engagement ring.
On Friday, Abi will then be seen holding back tears as she packs up her belongings at No 13 before heading over to Victoria Garden, where she sits swigging vodka and scrolling through pictures of Seb.
While drowning her sorrows, she’s found by Toyah, who urges her to go to a support group. But when Abi later introduces Toyah to her sponsor Dean, it soon becomes clear that this is all a big ruse.
Dean isn’t helping Abi through her addiction – he is, in fact supplying her with drugs. And the two of them will later be seeing laughing at how they were able to dupe a naïve Toyah.
Emma dates Ted’s grandson Jon
After Emma spies Ted’s grandson Jon in Freshco’s car park, the two of them end up grabbing a meal together at Speed Daal.
He admits that he’s thought a lot about Emma since his granddad’s funeral and it soon becomes clear that he’s smitten. But when Amy finds out about the date she’s angry: how can Emma now be contemplating getting close to Jon when Craig gave up his career in the police force?
Following this argument with Amy, Emma promises that she won’t see Jon again. But when her phone beeps with a message from Jon inviting her for a drink, it’s obvious that Emma is tempted…
