Coronation Street's Georgia Taylor has opened up about the bombshell developments for her character Toyah Battersby following the explosive episode on Friday.

Toyah has been centre-stage in a whirlwind of drama, dealing with the heartbreaking reality of her daughter Rose's true parentage, a sizzling affair with Nick Tilsley, and her ongoing rivalry with Rowan Cunliffe. Things took a serious turn when Toyah was taken to hospital, leading to a shock pregnancy revelation after her long battle with infertility issues.

With Nick fully aware that he could be the father, the tension is palpable as Leanne Battersby remains oblivious to her husband's treachery with her sister. The plot thickened on Friday with another jaw-dropping development; Toyah received some distressing health news.

Following an ultrasound scan, the doctors delivered the crushing blow that not only was Toyah's pregnancy test incorrect, but she was also diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

In an exclusive chat with The Mirror, Georgia Taylor shed light on what lies ahead in the aftermath of this revelation. She hinted that the storyline might draw Toyah and Nick closer together as she grapples with her challenging diagnosis, reports the Mirror.

Georgia shared insights about the upcoming narrative twists: "We have the possible pregnancy storyline and the health based storyline which I can't say too much about, but it will potentially bring Toyah and Nick even closer together. What we see as it unfolds is Leanne start to emotionally distance herself from her sister."

"So the only person left really for Toyah in her support network, because she doesn't have any other family around, is Nick."

Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah in the show, expressed her surprise at the plot development involving an affair.

She remarked: "I was shocked but I was like, that could be really fun. I love working with Ben Price [who plays Nick]. I love working with Jane [who plays Leanne], that goes without saying and I get to hang out with them all day and play different storylines. it is a confusing mix of emotions."

Coronation Street fans will need to stay tuned to find out how Toyah copes with her concerning health news and if Leanne can support her sister. With Rowan also in the know about the affair, the question remains whether he'll reveal the secret.
