Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan has made a confession about her parenting struggles to her Instagram followers.

The soap actor, who played Rosie Webster in the programme, confessed she needs her own "adult time" as she adjusts to being a single mum.

Flanagan, 32, shares Matilda, seven, Delilah, four, and Charlie, two, with her ex-partner Scott Sinclair.

The couple split last year after 12 years together with co-parenting being "pretty drama-free", according to the actor.

Helen Flanagan shares co-parenting with Scott Sinclair is 'pretty drama-free'

Helen spoke to her Instagram followers on her story: "I fell asleep with the kids last night. So Delilah does this thing where she will not go to sleep without me, not a chance, she will just scream and scream and scream.

"I have spoken to Scott's mum and I think we're going to get them in a different routine.

"Gosh, she's nearly five, but honestly, she won't go to sleep without me. She literally has to sleep right there [next to her face].

"So usually what I do, I pretend I'm going to sleep and then when she's asleep I sneak out the room.

"Anyway, I didn't, I fell asleep and I fell asleep in my contact lenses. Great!"

The actor also recognised that she needs to "switch off" from the pressures of parenthood from time to time.

She shared: "I need my own adult time even if it's just like I'm watching something I want to watch or I can speak to my friends. I just need that switch off."

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Helen commented: "I co-parent with Scott. We were together for a long time. So he lives with his mum in Bristol and I live in Manchester with the kids. I get on really well with Scott's mum.

"I was with Scott aged 19-31, so that's why I get on so well with his mum.

"So honestly it makes my life so easy because we hang out together. It's really nice. It's pretty drama-free as I get on really well with her."

The confession comes after news that the I'm A Celeb...South Africa contestant revealed that she would 'love' to return to the cobbles in the coming years after exiting the soap in 2018.
