A Coronation Street star has revealed how she was snubbed by Emmerdale for a role in the rival ITV soap.

As we all know, soapland can be a small place with acting talents moving between shows. As reported by The Mirror, during an appearance on The Big Soap Quiz, which pits Emmerdale against Coronation Street, a showbiz revelation was aired.

Coronation Street's Channique Sterling-Brown, who plays Dee-Dee Bailey, said she auditioned for the part believed to be Naomi Walters - the daughter of Charles Anderson. Facing off against Kevin Mathurin, who plays Charles in Emmerdale, made the reveal.

Channique told Kevin: “I could have been your daughter, Kevin.” Instead, the Emmerdale character was played by Karene Peter. After a 12-month stint in the soap she left in 2023.

At the time, The Sun has reported news of Karene’s exit from the show. A source said: “Karene’s loved her time on the soap but it is time for her to go.
