Coronation Street star Colson Smith suffered an unfortunate mishap that he was ‘too scared’ to tell anyone about.

The actor, who plays Craig Tinker in the hit soap, has been away in New South Wales filming as part of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!. The star has recorded two episodes of the ITV2 companion show I’m A Celebrity Unpacked.

The 26-year-old however says filming Down Under has left him feeling “tired”. It prompted an unfortunate bathroom blunder, which co-stars believed came from him falling asleep or not paying attention.

In a voice note to his On The Sofa podcast co-presenters Jack P.Shepherd and Ben Price, he said: “I am that tired that I have flooded my bathroom, which has in effect flooded my whole hotel room. And because I am the new boy and I’m only here for a week, I am too scared to tell anyone.

“So I have just tried to mop it all up with a towel. But I have done a terrible job.”

Presenter Ben suspected Colson had been attempting to have a bubble bath at the time. He explained: “What he’s done is he’s had a bath, he’s put bubble bath in, and I’ll tell you what he’s done, he’s gone on his phone or fallen asleep.

“I tell you what, he’s got a tonne of Old Matey in there because that is soap sud city. Has he done his washing in there? He’s proper flooded it.”

Fellow presenter Jack, known for playing David Platt in Coronation Street, also suspected Colson had fallen asleep while having a bath. It wouldn’t be the star’s first sleeping mishap while in Australia either.

Colson told his Instagram followers he went for a nap in the morning after landing in Australia thinking he had “beaten jet lag”, only to wake up at 7pm. He told followers: “I thought I’d beaten jet lag, I claimed I had beaten jet lag, then last night I thought ‘I didn’t sleep well but it’s okay, it’s just a blip’, a blip in the road of me beating jet lag.

“So I ended up getting out of bed, having some breakfast and then it got to 9am and I went ‘do you know what, I’m going to go for a nap now, catch up on the sleep that I’ve missed and we’ll be right as rain.’

“I went for that little nap, and that little nap lasted all the way until f****** 7pm. I have woken up feeling like I’ve missed Christmas, new year, the birth of my first child, I’ve missed it all.”
