Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street star Stephanie Davis has addressed a fan theory that Courtney Vance could soon be heading behind the bar at The Rovers.
Davis joined the ITV soap as Courtney earlier this year, and recently shared a behind-the-scenes photo of herself pulling pints at the iconic pub, fuelling rumours that the character could be in line for a new job.
In an interview with Inside Soap, Davis teased the prospect of Courtney taking up a new role, revealing that she has all the required skills for the job.
“She’d be an amazing landlady. I think she’d love it because she could be involved with all of the gossip. Although, she wouldn’t take any rubbish – there’d be no drama going on inside her pub,” said Davis, before recalling her first impressions of the soap.
“It was surreal. It was mad because I’d watched Corrie for so many years, then suddenly I was there on the cobbles – and it’s exactly like what you see on the TV,” she said.
“I wrote a poem when I was 14 about walking on the cobbles of Corrie, so I had a little moment when I was standing on them – [I] just looked at my feet and [started] smiling.”
Elsewhere on the soap, Alan Halsall recently celebrated 25 years in the role of Tyrone Dobbs, with the actor commending the new storyline which sees him star alongside Dame Maureen Lipman and Claire Sweeney.
“Honestly, it's brilliant. Tyrone started off with not a single family member,” he said. “So now to have this kind of multi-generational family living at number 9 Coronation Street is incredible. Even now, 25 years on, you pinch yourself and think 'wow, how's this happened?' Yeah, I love it.”
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
