Yahoo News Coronation Street star Tony Maudsley signs new contract with show
Coronation Street star Tony Maudsley has confirmed his future on the cobbles, after signing a new contract.
Sharing the news via his Twitter account, Maudsley posted a clip of his character, undertaker George Shuttleworth, tending to an unconscious Eileen Grimshaw.
"I only told her I'd signed a new contract and this is what happens! I thought she'd be pleased!" he wrote.
"That's George keeping Eyelash on her toes until at least July 2024, and I couldn't be happier."

Maudsley, who is best known for his role as hairdresser Kenneth Du Beke in Benidorm, joined the soap in September 2020, arriving on the cobbles following the death of his father Archie.
Since moving to Weatherfield, George has developed a relationship with fan-favourite Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver). And it's not the first time the two actors have played a couple – they appeared together on BBC police procedural City Central.
"Me and Sue were married about 20 years ago in a show called City Central," he said, adding that Cleaver had joined him during his audition for Corrie (via The Sun).
"When I went for the part, Sue very kindly came in and read with me and we had an instant connection.

"When we worked together 20 years ago, we got on so, so well and that spark was absolutely still there," he continued.
"I felt it, Sue still felt it and the casting director and the producer felt it because they said, 'I think we’ve found our George'."
Despite George and Eileen quickly hitting it off, it took them a while to actually get together. Maudsley previously explained why, revealing that show bosses didn't want the pair to rush into a relationship as it would be "jarring" for viewers.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
