Aadi Alahan has been left devastated after being dumped by Courtney Vance in Coronation Street.

The teen was told in Wednesday's (November 1) episode that his girlfriend had decided to reconcile with her estranged husband, Darren Vance, despite their recent affair.

This followed some apparent good news when Aadi was offered a job stocking shelves at Freshco.

When Aadi invited his sister Asha and her girlfriend Nina over to have tea to celebrate, Courtney could barely contain her annoyance and slipped out of the house.

Aadi was left in a slightly awkward situation since Asha was running late, leaving him alone with Nina when Darren suddenly showed up at the precinct flat.

Darren stunned Aadi by announcing that he'd come to pick up Courtney's things because the former couple had suddenly decided to give their marriage another shot.

Aadi remained convinced that Dev's meddling ruined his relationship, so he asked Nina not to tell his family what was actually going on.

Once he was left alone, Aadi struck out in anger by throwing a framed photo of Courtney across the room — accidentally knocking over the carbon monoxide monitor in the process.

While Aadi has been devastated by Courtney's betrayal, Coronation Street's producer Iain MacLeod has confirmed that he will soon reassess his feelings for friend Amy Barlow.

The two will grow close once again as Aadi tries to support Amy as she copes with the continuing trauma from her rape.

"I think Elle Mulvaney and Adam Hussain, who's the actor in the middle of it as Aadi, are fantastically good — both individually and together across this story," MacLeod told Digital Spy.

"Indeed, this story is a really significant staging post in our ongoing fostering of this closeness between Aadi and Amy. It's them being best friends and having each other's back, come what may. It's a really, really long-range love story that we're hoping to tell with them. It's going to really engage the audience."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
