Summer snapped at Billy that she was sick of being controlled when he tried to lecture her boyfriend Aaron on the dangers of drugs, since he'd stolen the weed from his dad's wallet.

In Wednesday's (October 5) episode, Aaron faced more brutal consequences when his father Eric showed up at the garage to attack Aaron for taking his wallet.

Kevin managed to run off Aaron's dad, but Aaron confided in Summer later that his father was waiting for him at home to attack him.

The problems only got worse when Paul heard about the weed brownie incident at the flower shop from Fiz. He promptly went round to warn Aaron off, accusing him of being a bad influence on Summer.

Paul inadvertently grabbed Aaron's bruised arm, leading the teen to instinctively lash out by punching him in the face!

Summer had to watch all of this in horror, as Paul warned he'd go to police over the assault. Aaron finally felt he had little choice but to confide in Billy about the abuse he's been suffering at home.

Billy naturally empathised with Aaron, so he rushed off to intercept Paul before he could speak to police. While Billy did manage to convince Paul not to report Aaron, the boy's problems were far from over.

Paul paid Aaron a visit later with a demand for his silence: Aaron must end things with Summer because he doesn't want her distracted.

Viewers will no doubt notice the layers to this storyline as Paul was also abused as a boy by his mother's stepfather Kel. Can Paul recognise the similarities between himself and Aaron?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
