Afterwards, Chesney worries about Gemma's state of mind as it's clear that she's not herself, although he still doesn't know the half of it.

Later, Gemma makes a brave decision as she realises that it's time to properly address her depression.

Speaking to Chesney, her mum Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) and friend Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox), an emotional Gemma explains that she thinks she's a terrible mother and no longer feels in control.

Dolly-Rose Campbell, who plays Gemma, recently praised Coronation Street bosses for tackling the issue of post-natal depression with her character.

She said: "It is really important. It would have been easy just to have lots of comedy with Gemma and the quads, but that would have been unrealistic if we didn't show the struggles she is having.

"As the story develops it becomes clear to Gemma that this is more than just the baby blues and tiredness and she will be forced to come to terms with the fact that she is ill and needs help."

Coronation Street now airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV.
