Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Leanne Battersby shocks her partner Nick Tilsley next week as she continues to snub her sister Toyah.

Leanne is determined to play no role in supporting her sibling following Toyah's recent cancer diagnosis.

Last month, Toyah was told that she has germ-cell ovarian cancer and will need an operation to remove a tumour. She also learned that she may have to undergo chemotherapy.

Toyah was reluctant to accept support from Leanne following their recent rows over The Institute. However, Leanne later took control by vowing to "withdraw with love" from the situation – as advised by creepy cult leader Rowan Cunliffe.

Next week, Leanne shows that she's fully committed to this stance as she refuses to offer Toyah any kind words before her latest hospital appointment.

Nick is disgusted by Leanne's coldness and decides to accompany Toyah to the hospital himself. Leanne remains unaware of the growing feelings between Nick and Toyah, who recently betrayed her by sleeping together.

Later in the week, Rowan informs Leanne that Institute boss Willow has selected her to run the new resource centre.

This leaves Leanne with lots more responsibility in the group, starting off with meeting a potential investor.

Rowan sets up the meeting between Leanne and newcomer Grant, before leaving her to deliver an important sales pitch. Can Leanne rise to the occasion?

Speaking recently about the future of Nick and Toyah's connection, Georgia Taylor – who plays Toyah – revealed: "There are moments when they're overwhelmed with guilt, but there are also moments where both Nick and Toyah seem to be able to comfortably put that to one side.

"I don't want to victim-blame, but I think it's because Leanne's behaviour is just so out there – she's so combative and she's almost like a robot. We've played some scenes where it's like she's almost not a real person.

"It's quite chilling, and I think Jane [Danson]'s doing an amazing job. Because it's like you're playing a scene with someone that you've never played a scene with before, it's really odd. So it's mixed feelings. There's some guilt, but she's also like: 'What am I getting from my sister? We've lost her'."

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday, August 7 and Friday, August 9.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
