Coronation Street's Max Turner star opens up on show ‘first’ as characters fate hangs in balance
Coronation Street star Paddy Bever has admitted that he’s never done ‘anything on this scale before’ as his character, Max Turner’s fate was hanging in the balance.
During a recent episode of the ITV hit soap, fans have been left worried for Max after he got trapped in the burning Platts house.
In a dramatic turn, the house exploded from the flames after someone had been seen putting a lit rag through the letterbox - but we are yet to find out who did it.
As the dust settles on the devastating fire at the Platts' and the search for the arsonist begins, viewers have been treated to a sneak peek behind the scenes of the filming of the explosive episodes.
The scenes were shot across four nights in November and both cast and crew donned their thermals and battled the elements to get the perfect shot.

Opening up about the dramatic storyline, Paddy admitted that it was the first time he has ever filmed a scene this intense. He said: “I have never done anything on this scale before. I’ve certainly done night shoots and we’ve done stunts and things like that but this is the first time we have ever actually seen real fire on set and it’s very exciting.”
At the time, his character Max had rushed in to try and save Lily from the fire, but she was safe elsewhere. Toyah was unconscious in the house and was dragged out by Nick, with everyone giving her CPR as they tried to save her.
Max, meanwhile, was stuck in the house after following Shona in. Thankfully, she made it out safely. It has since been revealed that Max was rescued by the firefighters and rushed to hospital with bad news.
It was revealed the teen's lungs were not working correctly so doctors had put him in a coma to hopefully save his life.
We are yet to find out if Max has permanent and longstanding injuries from the shock fire. However, there could be a twist - and someone else could end up dead.
We are yet to find out if Max will survive, but his exit from the soap has been confirmed. Speaking to the Mirror earlier this year: "After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max, and Coronation Street, to explore new opportunities. I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way.
"It’s been a great privilege to contribute to the legacy of such a well-loved and iconic show. This chapter has been unforgettable and while I look forward to what lies ahead, I will treasure these memories."
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV and ITVX
