Yahoo News Coronation Street's Mikey North teases new love interest for Gary Windass
Coronation Street star Mikey North has teased the possibility of new love for his character Gary Windass.
The character was recently dumped by girlfriend Sarah Platt, though Mikey has revealed that he will get a new love interest soon that ties into a big storyline.
"It's so far off, but I know it has been planned for ages," he said. "I've known about it since Christmas time but it's just not happened yet, but it is happening and it all ties into the next big storyline for Gary."
As for whether he thinks that Gary is a good father to sons Jack and Zack, Mikey continued: "I think he's a good dad, he would do anything for Jake [Gary's son with Izzy] and obviously Zach's in Bristol. I think he wants things to be ideal but that's never the case.
"I think the whole Nicola thing was the beginning of the end for Gary and Sarah, I was really upset about that because I thought that in the early days the characters worked really well together and I thought that was going to be a really long term thing but then obviously the handsome Scottish one [Adam] came along and it wasn't to be."
Mikey also revealed that he has gotten close with his on-screen love rival for Sarah's affections, Sam Robertson – aka Adam Barlow – despite their characters' tensions.

"Do you know what, honestly, he's become one of my best mates, we never did a scene together, we'd never spent any time together and in the past maybe three or four months, we knock about together outside of work, I see him all the time.
"There's a good little dynamic there I think building, character wise, we've done some nice scenes in the past couple of weeks. I hope we get to work together for the next couple of years at least."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
